Welcome to the Jungle!

No D.N.A Test needed for This One!!!!!

This past Sunday I was sitting in a local restaurant with my family eating after Worship Service as custom and recovering from preaching the Gospel. A family enters in and sits directly across from us and immediately a young boy no more than 6 or 7 years old grabs my attention merely by his appearance. I look at Him and instantly in my head I'm trying to figure out where I know this little rascal from, I glance at his mother, nope she doesn't look familiar.. look at his Grandmother and Grandfather.. I'm still drawing a blank... where do I know this kid from??? Being shy is something that I have never been, therefore I got up out of my booth and approached the family to bring resolve to my suspicion of knowing this kid. The closer I get I realize.. I do know this little rascal, this has got to be D.O.C's son, because he looks just like His Daddy... I tell the whole family, excuse me I know that you don't know me, I know this may be strange and I hope that I'm not wrong, but I have a friend that looks like he could be this child's father.. What is his fathers name.. The mom Smiles and says D.O.C is his daddy!!!! She says how do you know have you seen him before and if so then where, I said never seen Him before, but I have spent so much time with His daddy, that I knew that Had to be his Son!

Spiritual Nugget found in this experience:

When People look at you, Do they see your Heavenly Father?
Who can recognize who you are, where you come from and what you represent simply because when they look at you they see your heavenly Father in you? When people who don't know you have an encounter with you at some point your Father should ooze out of you so much that your identity becomes wrapped up in Him.

Pastor's Prayer:
God help me to be like D.O.C's son and resemble my heavenly father so much that people are drawn to me not because of my education, charisma or anything else except the fact that they can see my father in Me. Amen

Available

What's Good Blog Nation?

How many of us are truly available to God? I mean really available to Him at any moment, In any circumstance, In any place... I mean just available to Him even if it is inconvenience, even If we don't understand it, even if we don't agree with it initially/? Many of us say we want to be used by God, but what if he called on you in the midnight hour and interrupted your sleep, what if He said I want to use, but I need you to leave the relationship with this man or woman that you think is the best thing since sliced bread?  What if His using you meant that you would have to stop being selfish for a minute, stop thinking about your next career move and start focusing on God's agenda and not yours? Are you available????

Day 1 of 67: Distractions with Purpose!

Photo

Wow what a day.... Many of you know that yesterday was my first of 67 days committing 4 hours a day strictly to reading the Word, consecration and focused prayer. What I encountered was distraction after distraction after distraction... Phone ringing constantly, baby crying, saints with emergencies, I mean if it could happen yesterday it all happened during my 4 hours of purpose. After being completely frustrates I realized that the antidote to distractions was discipline! That's right the discipline to turn off the phone, discipline to focus your mind on your agenda and stick to it, the discipline to say no even though everything in you is saying yes... If I was preaching I would say turn to your neighbor and say Discipline. Discipline is a attribute that breeds success, positive results and accomplishments. To make a long story short I realized that Pastor Cory has to be more disciplined and that those distractions were on purpose.... So that I could see my areas of opportunity to grow.

I Give Myself Away

Yesterday at New Direction the Lord spoke to his people and told them that if they wanted to see Him they had to allow something that was blocking their view to DIE. Also if they wanted to hear Him we needed to be in the right position when he spoke, be ready to move on His command and eliminate the sin that's in our life. In Other Words we have to be willing to give up some stuff and actually give ourselves away so that he may use us.

Check out just a snippet of our praise team declaring that they give themselves away so that God may use them.

A Night with the stars!!!

Last Night my wife, brother, his wife and myself had an opportunity to sit an arena full of stars. Stars that ranged from P Diddy to Magic Johnson, from Spike Lee to Alicia Keys, from Ludacris to Arnold The Govenor of California. It was interesting to see how many people were there, as a matter of fact a new record of 108,000 people in attendence was set last night in one place for a basketball game. The stadium was crazy which is a whole blog in itself as it relates to Vision, but I will save that for later. The point to this blog is that when people feel like they have an opportunity to meet and rub elbows with celebraties they show up in record numbers, but... Not trying to rain on our little all star parade, but none of those stars shine like the bright and morning Star Jesus. I mean I'm not trying to be super spiritual and churchy, but I was wondering if some realized that Jesus is a bigger star than P. Diddy and J. Lo, if they knew that he was the best contact and hook up you can have. My question is this why don't we show up to church in record numbers like that? Just a question.....

6 Days to Destiny

Photo

Ok I'm super excited about the next 6 days that ate leading up to the launch of New Direction Mimistries. 10 years ago I had a dream while living in Galveston, Texas of a church that was amazingly filled with the glory of God. I had a dream of a ministry where the homeless were fed, clothed and empowered to get habitation, a dream where the widows and orphans find safety and care and a place where the broken, misused and dejected find a place of refugee. God gave me this dream and the reality is that it was so different from any other church that I had ever visited in the past and so therefore I was wondering where this place was. I found out that the church that I dreamed about was not in a geographical location, but this ministry was lodged inside of me. January 10th, 2010 at 10:00 am for me is more than just a launching of a great church, but it signifies that dreams do come true and that if God said it, IT shall come to pass....

A Few family members

Photo

It's great to have family and friends around for the holidays. Here is just a few of the 16 people that stayed at my house over the Christmas Break. Glad to have them there..... Also glad to see them go! It's called getting back to some normalcy. I had a line waiting this morning for people to use the bathroom, all the leftover are gone and my carpet is dirty again.... But real talk it was a joy to have my family with me.... Safe travels Back
